What is Scalp Micropigmentation ?
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is the implanting of organic-based cosmetic pigments that create the look of shaved or short hair follicles. This treatment is great for both men and women, to treat areas that are balding or thinning. SMP can benefit many different types of hair loss scenarios, from providing density and fullness to areas of hair that is thinning, or to provide a full head of hair shaved-look to men that are balding. This treatment is also great for covering burns and scars, both accidental or surgical.
The pigments are implanted in a shallow depth of the skin (top of the dermis layer of theskin), and will slowly fade over time. We want this treatment to fade over time, as if the pigment was trapped deeper in the skin (like a body tattoo) – the pigment would be trapped and would blur and change in colour over time (like a body tattoo does). As the treatment fades over time, single session maintenance treatments are performed to revitalize the treatment to its optimal results and density, while maintaining the natural appearance of fine hair-like follicles.
This initial treatment involves 3 sessions to provide the optimal and best results.
1st session – FOUNDATION SESSION – Immediate results are obtained during this session, achieving 60-70% of the treatment’s full targeted density.
2nd session – BUILDING SESSION – This session is 10-14 days after the 1st session. Any necessary adjustments are made, and we build the treatment to it’s fullest results and achieve 100% of the targeted density.
3rd session – PERFECTING SESSION – This session takes place 2 months after the 2ndsession. The longer time gap to this session is to allow ample time for the treatment to fully heal and set. This is typically a quick and simple follow up session to perfect and tweak anything necessary to ensure the best results for the longevity of the treatment.
Even though this treatment can last up to 3-4 years, it is best to expect to have single session maintenance treatments every 18-24 months to maintain the most effective and fullest appearance. During these maintenance sessions, the treatment area and/or colour of the pigment can be adjusted to accommodate any further progression of hair loss, or to adapt to any change of colour to the natural hair.
Is there any side effect ?
The Scalp Micropigmentation treatment carries no risk or side effects. No damage to the scalp. A select amount of clients will actually benefit from stimulated hair growth, as the SMP treatment simulates a mild micro-needling type stimulation to the scalp skin. Other benefits to the treatment include immediate results and easy maintenance. Clients are able to return to their day-to-day activities immediately after treatment.
Is there any preparation before doing Scalp Micropigmentation?

How can take care after the treatment ?
Clients can return to their normal day-to-day activities immediately.
Keep hair dry for minimum 1 week (up to 2 weeks is ideal). During the dry-period, a dry shampoo can be used to cleanse.
No saunas, jacuzzis, hot tubs or swimming for 2 weeks.
No hats for 4 days post-treatment. If a hat is necessary – a brand new unused hat can be used (It is the bacteria build up in used hats that are the concern, with the possibility of bacteria entering the broken skin and causing an infection).
No hair products for 4 days post-treatment to avoid possible infection.
No hair cuts for 4 days post-treatment to avoid possible infection.
For male hairline and shaved-head look treatments – please apply SPF 50 on scalp for any extended exposure to sun (with the exception of the 4 days post treatment – nothing can be applied to scalp for 4 days). This will ensure the most effective and long term retention of the treatment, in regards to excessive sun exposure that can accelerate the fading process.

Male Density Treatment
This Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) treatment is suitable to add fullness and density to any areas of your hair that is thinning. Thinning commonly begins in the crown, or the frontal recession areas of your hair. The thinning can then progress across the top of the head.Please note the exposed visibility of the skin in these thinner areas is what extenuates the hair loss. The process for this specific treatment application involves implanting these hair-like follicles across the targeted areas of thinning. This creates a simulated fullness behind the natural hair, camouflaging the skin, providing a more dense and fuller appearance.
There is no need to shave any hair prior to this treatment. This treatment is simply completed behind and throughout any areas of your hair that is needing the additional fullness and density.
